ABOUT US
Owned since 2019 by George and Elaine Brown.
20 Chantrezac is the perfect rural retreat. Nestled beside the ancient church in the picturesque hamlet of Chantrezac, its ten acre setting is bounded on one side by a small woodland, and the river Charente on another.
Relax in the sheltered walled garden, or follow the pathway around the meadow, pause to listen to birdsong in the woods or picnic by the river.
Where possible, all food served is home produced, locally sourced or organic. We use no chemicals on our home grown produce, or indeed anywhere in our grounds.
OUR ROOMS
Beautifully furnished and decorated rooms. Three double rooms with private shower rooms , and one triple room which has use of the separate guest bathroom. A delicious breakfast is included in all room prices.

Breakfast
A delicious continental breakfast is served in the dining room, in your bedroom, or if you prefer to eat outside we can serve your breakfast in the garden.
Where possible, we serve organic locally sourced produce.

Further Afield
For a day out, we are within an easy drive of Cognac with its distilleries, or Bordeaux for vineyard tours and wine tasting. Ancient cities such as Angouleme and Limoges, plus Futuroscope and the Valley of the Monkeys ensure there will be something to suit every taste!
Garden
The pretty walled garden next to the house is the perfect place to relax and catch up on a novel, or just sit back and enjoy the surroundings.
Follow the 'promenade' through the orchard and on towards the woods, pause for a while by the river before continuing back to the house past the medieval dwellings.

On the doorstep

Explore the marked cycle routes and footpaths accessible directly from the property. Country lanes, farms and small hamlets make up the surrounding area with beautiful towns such as Confolens on the river Vienne a short car journey away.

Distilleries and Wineries

Visit famous cognac distilleries such as Hennessy, Courvoisier and Remy Martin, in the beautiful riverside towns of Cognac and Jarnac, or explore the countryside around St Emilion, and stop off at a vineyard to sample the famous Bordeaux wine.

Cultural Sites

Why not visit the stunning chateaux of the area. Our favourites are La Rochefoucauld, Verteuil- Sur-Charente and Rochechouart, which, alongside its 16th century frescos, is home to a museum of contemporary art.

From the annual Circuit des Ramparts classic car rally around the ancient streets of Angouleme, to the Val de Vienne race track which hosts more than 250 days of auto and motorcycle sports activities each year, including 12 weekends of national and international competitions.

A twenty minute drive takes you to the lakes of Haute Charente, popular for windsurfing, water-skiing, sailing, canoeing and swimming. There are sandy beaches shaded by oaks and willows with plenty of picnic spots, trails for ramblers, and restaurants.

Angouleme is the 'city of festivals' including its international comic book festival and the classic car rally.
Limoges is the capital of porcelain, with its beautifully preserved half timbered buildings.

A two hour drive will take you to the Atlantic beaches and coastal town of Rochefort with its maritime history. Travel 30 minutes north from there and you will reach picturesque La Rochelle, 30 minutes south will take you to the famous beaches of Royan.
