Lacs de Haute Charante
Situated near the village of Chassenon (where you can also find Cassinomagus, some of the best preserved Gallo-Romans thermal baths in Europe) Lac de Lavaud and Lac du Mas Chaban offer a range of water-based leisure activities, such as sailing, canoeing, windsurfing, and fishing, while benefiting from a quiet and peaceful natural setting.
Lovers of swimming and relaxation will also enjoy Lake Lavaud's two pleasant fine-sand beaches. There is an equestrian centre close by, from where you can go on a guided trek.
Benefiting from a wooded and unspoiled environment, these two water reservoirs built as a sustainable tourism development, attract numerous species of birds. These wild birds can be admired from the ornithological look-out post of Foucherie.
Snack bar and picnic facilities are also available onsite.
Looking for little more excitement? Nearby Massignac has an excellent treetop adventure park, which also has a restaurant and picnic facilities.
